Our Horse - Jazz's Journey

Jazz Update -

Things have been difficult for us with Jazz, as he had some setbacks! But, we are still on this journey to his full recovery!
We are working with our vets, as well as some holistic professionals to help keep him on the right track!

He was recently kicked badly, when he was put in an inappropriate paddock situation, then later this happened again. This was not our choice for him, and it was hard for us to see him go through this, since it happened on the side we are already having the neurologic issues.

Thankfully, he is not in that same situation and is on a new road to where he can fully recover and continue to live a good, full life!

We continue to ask for your Prayers, Thoughts & Support through this difficult illness. Jazz is a happy boy and a fighter, and we are so glad that he is in our care.  All of you who have expressed, concern or helped us or donated, we THANK YOU!!

Update on Jazz's Condition  7/27/26

Thank you SO much for your generosity and the outpouring of care for our horse Jazz!
Since we have recently found out that Jazz's condition is a more complex case, we are still in need of support to properly diagnose his neurological condition with a Spinal Tap, to ensure that the proper treatment is given.

In order for him to get this test done, he will need to travel to the Equine Hospital in Madision, WI - this is the most effective and reliable test available to determine the existence of EPM in his body. This will help us to know if he needs a different EPM medication or another neurological treatment.

We appreciate your continued support and prayers ❤️‍🩹

How Jazz is Doing  7/25/26

After Jazz's bloodtest came back with high exposure to EPM, our veterinarian told us we would need to treat him as soon as possible with a medication that will help to eliminate the protazoa that cause this neurological condition in horses. With your amazing generosity, we have been able to start him on the first phase of his treatment.
Since starting the medication and supportive care last week, Jazz has not made the progress we were hoping for. As explained by our veterinarian, horses can sometimes “look worse before they get better,” while the medication starts to take effect. However, Jazz has been showing some new clinical neurological signs, which lead us to believe that this medication will not be the right fit for his particular case.  We are working with our veternarian on next steps and treatment options for his continued recovery.

In the meantime, he is receiving all love and care and still needs your help and prayers!

Thank you for following our boy's journey to recovery from EPM - a neurological condition. We are hopeful for his recovery, with your prayers and donations for the medication he needs to treat his condition.
